The show is at the #biosphere — you know, that giant geodesic metal dome made of triangles that looks like #3d but, like, real 3D. The one that burned down? 🔥

It’s inside the old U.S. pavilion — “amen” — designed by Buckminster Fuller for Expo 67.
Our own Eiffel Tower… without the tourists.

Today, I fulfilled a childhood dream (and that doesn’t happen every day).

I finally stepped inside the United States Pavilion, designed by Buckminster Fuller for Expo 67 — that massive retrofuturistic sphere you can spot from afar on Île Sainte-Hélène. 🌐 Our Eiffel Tower!

Today, it’s known as Montreal’s Biosphere.
As a kid, my family would picnic nearby, staring in awe at that wild architecture… but it was always closed off, broken, unreachable.

As a young adult, I fantasized about some kind of underground rave in its ruins.

And today, a few decades later…
I finally walked in.
Happy as a candy-bearded kid.

You should go there, also because there’s a fantastic art video by Frédéric Lavoie. No, actually a video with lots of bugs in macro, but with an extraordinary aesthetic “like” a contemporary art museum. A big 2 for 1. I’ll tell you more in another post.

Hier, j'ai réalisé un rêve d'enfant (ça ne m'arrive pas tous les jours).

J'ai finalement entré à l'intérieur du pavillon des États-Unis, conçu par Buckminster Fuller pour l’Expo 67. Notre Tour Eiffel genre.

C'est maintenant la biosphère de Montréal.

Lorsque notre famille pique-niquait sur l'île Sainte-Hélène, nous regardions cet extraordinaire architecture en forme de boule. On ne pouvait pas y entrer parce que tout était cassé.

Jeune adulte, j'ai imaginé une sorte de rave underground dans ses ruines.

Quelques décennies plus tard, j'y suis finalement rentré. Heureux comme un enfant à barbe!

Vous devriez y aller, aussi parce qu'il y a une formidable vidéo d'art de Frédéric Lavoie.

C'est plein de bibittes en macro, mais avec une esthétique extraordinaire "à la" musée d'art contemporain.
